Laboratory Services Management Team

Will Bodeker - Senior Manager Laboratory Services

Will joined the Australian Water Quality Centre team in 2023, shifting to Adelaide with his family from the Hawkes Bay region of New Zealand.  Will brings a wealth of varied experience to the role, previously holding a range of laboratory leadership positions in New Zealand.

After completing his Chemistry and Marine biology degree through Victoria University in 2011, Will began his laboratory career as a soil analyst, responsible for routine analysis and method development across a range of laboratory techniques for Analytical Research Laboratories (ARL).

Will was promoted into leadership positions across the sample preparation and laboratory areas of ARL before moving into the Business Unit Manager position in 2017.  Throughout his time in this role, Will led the implementation of a range of automation projects, a submission tool for customers, and a series of continuous improvement initiatives.  Out of a desire to further develop his leadership and business acumen, Will completed his MBA through Massey University in 2022.

Will holds a strong interest in Continuous improvement and automation, in particular how they can be used to enhance the effectiveness of the laboratory operation while supporting the people working in the business.

Kerrie Jooste – Manager Chemistry

Kerrie joined the AWQC in 2007 as a member of the Inorganic Chemistry Services team after obtaining her Bachelor of Science (majoring in Chemical Synthesis and Pharmacology). During her time at AWQC, Kerrie has gained an extensive knowledge of Inorganic Chemistry testing; working as part of the Physical, Nutrients and Waste teams before moving on to supervise the combined Nutrients and Waste team in 2015.

Kerrie moved into the Acting Manager Chemistry Services position in 2019, leading a team of 31 highly skilled scientists within the Nutrients and Waste, Metals and Physical, and Organic Chemistry laboratories, before securing the ongoing Manager Chemistry Services position in 2020.

Kerrie has a strong focus on customer service delivery and quality, driving improvements and innovation through method development, method validation, process improvements, automation, and robotics.

Michelle Howson - Manager Customer and Business Services 

Michelle joined Australian Water Quality Centre in February 2021. Michelle is responsible for the effective management and improvement of AWQC’s customer services, quality management and business systems activities to deliver value and achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.

Prior to joining AWQC, Michelle held leading roles in business operations, marketing and business development, project management and customer service in corporate, not for profit, local and state governments around Australia.

Michelle has a Bachelor of Business in Management, a Graduate Certificate in Organisational Communication and currently studying a Graduate Certificate in Leadership & Strategy working towards a MBA.

Michelle is committed to understanding how the customer experience impacts all customers and to contributing to mutually beneficial partnerships that create real value while managing customer and organisational outcomes.
